OLD BUSINESS

  • Nikolei gave a brief report on the AirZoo RC event that took place the previous weekend. In the end, approx 20 pilots from 4 local clubs brought approx 40 planes, including a 50% Edge 540 and some neat control-line stuff was flying outside. Museum attendance was down even with the not-so-great weather. AirZoo reported an approx 650 people attended, in contrast to the average 1000 in previous weekends. Only about 50 of the foam plate gliders were made, but the children that got them were excited and appreciative. Mark was busy all day with the RC simulators. The ‘vote for your favorite’ ballots got 125 votes, with none other than your club president winning with 23 votes for his Raptor helicopter. Some pictures are on the website already, more will be up soon.
We are hoping to make this a yearly event, but would like to see more pilots & airplanes next time as we had some empty tables! If you made it to the show and have any comments or suggestions, please let us know!
  • No updates on the YMCA event yet
  • Lee Lubbers wanted to make sure everyone RSVPs with him ASAP if they will be flying at our 1st Annual Big Bird event.
  • AMA Gold Leader Club pins were distributed. See Dan McClaren to get yours!
  • Ben was not present, so no updates on the display during the 28th St Cruise
  • Charles Rencurrel and Lee Frederickson gave a nice talk introducing their ideas for bringing park flyers and other pilots to the club at little to no cost to us. Their alpha plan includes making a half page teaser brochure we can give to anyone we see flying in parks, and to hobby shops to give to those buying planes. These forms will collect their name and contact info so we can keep in touch. The club voted to allow them to continue developing their alpha plan.
  • The bi-law change making the club membership unlimited was passed and made official.

NEW BUSINESS

  • New members Kirk Frey and Howard Green were accepted into the club. Welcome guys!
  • A new idea presented itself at AirZoo which lead to Mark talking to CARDS and arranging a casual evening of flying at each others fields. This will allow us to meet members of the other clubs and let us fly on a different field in a non airshow setting. This was planned for the 13th but has been moved to the 19th because of rain. CARDS will in return be visiting our field on the 27th. Everyone is encouraged to attend either or both events! Talk to Mark for rideshare info.
  • In preparation for the Memorial Fly-in, $350 has been allocated for food for 200 people. Remember to bring a dish to pass!
  • Due to multiple overlapping events, the Fun Fly has been canceled. We will try to move it to later in the year.

The meeting was brought to a close at 8:10pm by Lee Frederickson.

The next meeting will be June 1st @ the field.
