KRAM MEETING MINUTES
JULY 7, 2026
The meeting was called to order at 6:54 PM by president Tom DeVries.
Tom called on everyone to tell a little about themselves:
Jim Grant – started flying with a friend in 1954 and continues flying with him to this day.
Jim Harron was an Air Force brat and flew control line in High School and does not like the corn.
Chris Mruch retired in 2018 and started flying RC. Is now our Web Master. Owns the longest fly away from KRAM field at 5 miles. Plane returned in good shape!
Dan McLaren – flew control line as a teen and got into RC in 1978. Loves to build and fly.
Lee Lubbers – is a forever builder, ¼ scale especially. Moved into a retirement community a few years ago but is now getting back into the hobby.
Pete Dehr moved to Byron Center two years ago. First flew in 1958. Was out of the hobby for a number of years but rejoined the hobby in 2007 in Traverse City.
Terry Wing started flying RC in 1990. Likes to build, fly, fix, rebuild. Flys indoor at MSA
Jon Gougar (guest) – got into the hobby later in life, flew gliders for awhile, also fliest MSA in the winter.
Bob Irish has been flying RC for 35 years and flies everything. He is also a club trainer.
Brian Burgess is a new member – 2 hours old – welcome!
Chris Bohn has been flying for 30 years. Started flying with family.
Tom DeVries has been flying for 4 years. Started flying in the Philippines. Retired in 2018 and has progressed since then.
Financial report was reviewed. Motion to accept by Chris Mroch and seconded by Jim Grant. Motion carried.
Mike Murphy was absent but Tom DeVries made the safety message of calling out intended movements.
Bob Irish reported all OK with the machines and grounds.
Chris Mroch reported all was working as it should in the electronic world. Also, Chris is taking the roadside KRAM sign home for repainting. (Thanks for the effort Chris!)
President Tom thanked all that attended and helped out with the Vet’s picnic. It was a nice event for the Vets and those members who attended.
Club Picnic is August 1. Bring what you like with some to share.
Jim Herron passed out the raffle tickets for the swap shop plane (MSA XCUB 450) to all members present.
Jim Grant was noted in the August MODEL AVIATION magazine (page 15) for donating three issues that had been missing from the AMA collection.
Next meeting is at the field on August 4 at 7:00pm.
Motion to adjourn at 8:15 by Lee Lubbers with second by Jim Grant. Motion carried
