It’s December and almost nobody’s flying, so before storing those planes away check out your servos, lube the  gears if needed. Check for wires abrasion/connections. If flying fuel power, check the plug where lines go into  the tank for wear/potential leaks. Check electrical connectors and pull the batteries and put them on storage.

2024 Calendar:

The following events need dates, please bring proposed dates to the Jan Meeting so we can put them on the  club calendar: Brann Spring Dinner, Vets Picnic, Longest Day Fly, Club Picnic, Poker Fun Fly

2024 Combat discussion: Jim Herron has volunteered to run the 2024 season combats and handle the food  responsibilities. He believes KRAM SHOULD continue hosting Combat events for 2024, the 2023 events were  lightly attended and some speculation was this was due to the ‘points’ earned at our combat sessions were not  applied to the league season standings. However rational this speculation appears somewhat unfounded as in  the previous years our events (and ALL non-Tulip City Air Force events) have never counted towards the season  league standings. In previous years our attendance was very acceptable and a lot of fun was enjoyed by the  participants and spectators. The 2023 season low attendance was more likely affected by multiple factors:

1 the cancellation of our first scheduled combat

2 coincidentally our 2023 dates conflicted with the popular (and fun) Wolverine Skyhawks monthly Float Fly  events at the Clifford Lake Inn. NOTE: The league is likely to move to Monday nights for 2024, which should  help avoid the Float Fly conflicts.

3 Our tall corn might have ‘turned off’ some combatants as it’s not conducive to smooth flowing combat events  with pilots out in the corn searching for downed planes. Fingers crossed we do NOT have corn in 2024.

Show N Tell: Dan McLaren showed his shiny new Spectrum remote ID module which he pre-ordered and  finally took possession several months later. As always anything Remote ID related triggered a lively  discussion. In summary, if you’ll be flying anything over 250grams at a non-FRIA location after March 16,  2024 a remote-id will be required to be in compliance with FAA regulations.

Bob Irish reported he is building a Great Planes UltraSport from a dusty old kit. Wingspan – 80” 1,000 sq in.  OS 1.20 4 stroke (20cc).

Next Meeting is Jan.9, 2024 West Michigan Aviation Academy. Moved to 2nd Tuesday as President Streit will  be out of town until 1/3/2024.
