Old Business
Mike Murphy – Safety Message – be aware of NOTAMS as we get into an election year. Check your email status on the AMA site to be sure you are “on the list”. AMA sends out notifications that effect you based on your club affiliation to your Email address on record.
Jim Herron – Swap Shop 2021 update – sale of tables are going well but many interior tables are available. No food or beverages will be available in the K of C so bring your own coffee. CDC guidance will prevail – no masks if vaccinated.
Dave Hills – status of the field – oil has been changed on the beast and rider mower. Dave got the trimmer running last week but it was being temperamental this week. Lee Frederickson made a motion to buy a new one which was seconded by Dave. The motion was approved provided Jeff Streit can not come up with a better “deal”. Dave also noted that the grass seed he put down where the gravel pile used to be is coming up…
Steve O’Connor – great lunch for the poker fun fly! Steve was absent due to kidney stones – turn out he is fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Please keep him in your thought and prayers.
Jim Grant – report on the poker fun fly – a great time had by the six flyers and handful of spectators. Fun was had by all and the food was great. Thank you, Jim, for running the event and donating the event prizes! (Chuck Putney requested we plan the event earlier in the year next year.)
New Business
Gary Stephens – Coming Events
10/24 KRAM SWAP SHOP (set up starts at 8:00am with doors open at 9:00am) BYO coffee / food
1/1/2022 New Year Fly In. Noon until ???
Lee Frederickson requested permission to loan our “staplers” to Port City to put down their new mat. Request approved with Lee responsible to get them back…
Chuck Putney and Lee Frederickson report that the hobby shop is currently well stocked and if you need something just let them know.
Mike Murphy noted that MSA is open for drop in flying on Tuesday and Friday from 9:00 to 3:00. Membership is $25 with $5 per visit.
Someone brought up the idea of putting a simulator out on training nights so new flyers could do some practice on other than a plane. We will consider next spring.
Jim Herron suggested investigating putting a “mowing flag” on the website to warn members that the field is being mowed and therefore closed. Jim will talk to our web master, Chris.
Dave Hills noted that you can get a “plane finder” beeper for under $11 from Amazon or eBay. Great safety feature when you can not find your crashed plane.
Show and Tell – Jim Herron showed off a Motion RC product from Free Wing. It is a 5 blade EDF jet that runs on a 2200 3s battery and is advertised to run at 100mph all for $120.
