Old Business
Mike Murphy – Safety Message – Mike was absent due to the North Kent
Vote going on. The President gave the message about staying safe,
Especially if you must go out in the corn!
Jim Herron – Swap Shop 2021 update – all is going well. With ticket sales in the
Bank to date, the raffle plane is paid for! Table sales will begin shortly.
Jim reported he had attended Flite Fest in Ohio. Three BIG tents, lots of
building going and all their products available for purchase. Peter
Siripol built a 50 engine plane that flew!!! Worth the effort next year
According to Jim.
Dave Hills – status of the field – with the rain the grass looks good. The moles
Seem to have left on their own – no poison help from us! The wire on
The beast that had been causing hard starting has been fixed. The
Gravel move is still on the agenda. Watch for Dave’s call for help in
The near future.
Steve O’Connor – Reported the KRAM Memorial event had 25 adults and 5
Children. The event generated $210 in food donations. Total expenses
Were $349.21, a good portion of which are in inventory for our future
Events. It was decided we would be setting up our tents for future
Events so our guests would have shelter and stay behind our safety
Fence.
New Business
Lee Frederickson – started a discussion on “better communication” – looking for
Way to communicate with other members to get others to come out and
Fly. Some ideas were phone, email, “discourse”, camera, weather station,
Etc. Jim Herron will report back on what Tulip City does, George Orphan
Will investigate what a camera would entail, and Tony and Chuck will
Investigate a weather station. More discussion next meeting.
We had a discussion about Corn vs. Alfalfa vs soy beans. A lot of concern about
How high the corn is this year. A number of years ago we paid the farm
Extra to plant soy beans around the field vs corn. It was suggested that we see what the cost would be to do that next year (and when ever the corn comes into rotation around the field).
George Orphan requested that we tighten up our meeting procedures and more
Closely follow Roberts Rules of Order. We will try to do better without
Making our meetings stiff and unyielding.
We had a discussion about leaving some kind of “marker” when you have to enter
The corn. More discussion next month…
