Old Business

Mike Murphy’s safety message was to take you batteries to “storage charge” level.  He recounted how fully charged batteries when left at full charge may well swell up and ruin the battery or worse.

Jim Grant  – looking for ideas for the raffle plane for the 2020 Swap Shop.  Any suggestions, call!

Jim Herron – Maintenance Comments.  The generator is all set for winter with Stable in the gas and the generator in the shed for safe keeping.  (Jim will bring his personal unit to the January  1st fly in so we do not have to take the club unit out of storage.)

Steve O’Connor – no report

George Orphan – Promotional video follow up – he has 12 hours of video.  Now to just edit it down to a few minutes for viewing…

New Business

Dan McLaren – Nominations for club officers are:

President: Gary Stephens
Matt Slobe  (withdrew his name from nomination on 12/14/19)

Vice President:  Jim Grant
2nd Vice President:  Jim Herron
Secretary/Treasurer:  Dan McLaren  (2nd year of two year term)
Safety Director:  Mike Murphy
Social Director:  Steve O’Connor
Maintenance Director:  David Hills
Web Master:  Mark Terrazzino

(Since we have an unopposed slate of candidates for all positions, we will have a voice vote to accept the slate at the January meeting.)

Dan McLaren made a motion that we authorize the purchase of three fruit baskets – one for our land lord and one each for our nearest neighbors – as a continuing good will gesture.  Mark Schmaltz seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Dan McLaren made a motion to continue the club dues at $75 for 2020.  The motion was seconded by Mark Schmaltz and the motion carried.  (Additional discussion will be held regarding a nonvoting $25 WMAA student membership after the first of the year.)

Jim Grant requested permission for the WMAA to use the field June 16 -18 for a “remote control airplane summer camp”.  This would be the same program as last year only it would be a three day program. The field would be in use from around 10am until about 2:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  George Orphan made a motion to support and Steve O’Connor seconded.  Motion Carried.

Jim Grant informed the club that at the January Club meeting we would be forming two committees to review the club By-Laws and the club safety rules.  Mike Murphy will chair the safety committee while Mark Schmaltz volunteered to chair the By-Law committee.  Please come to the January meeting ready to volunteer to help on one of these committees.  (If you will not be around for the meeting and want to be involved, just give me a shout and I will add your name to your selected committee.)

Coming events – Jim Grant

Show and Tell:

Jim Grant showed the first half of the new wing from the J3 that had been eaten by mice.  Jim was able to salvage one rib and from that he drew plans for the wing and cut all parts to make a new wing.  Looking good…
