Old Business

Mike Murphy – Safety Message – always call your take offs and landings and never fly “behind the line”!  Especially at public events!

Jim Grant – Swap Shop 2019 is proceeding as planned with AMA Docs submitted.

Jim Herron – Maintenance Comments – work effort was successful.  Thanks to those who came out to help.  Gravel has been placed in the deepest ruts along the south side of the taxi way. Things look good! Mowing will probably be on Monday mornings once moisture has dried. (Lee Frederickson informed us that he can no longer mow due to medical reasons.  If you want to ride the small tractor now and then, contact Jim Herron.)

Phil Shea / Lee Frederickson – runway leveling and replacement plan is dependent on the farmers.  Whenever they can get to it around planting it will get done.  Looks like June but free!

Danny Osborn – Reported 26 people ate well and had an enjoyable evening at Ladies Night. We thanked Danny’s wife Roz for her efforts!

WMAA planned rocket launch – rained out last week, but was able to make it happen on Monday, 5/13.  We got a nice thank you note from the school for allowing them to use the field!

New Business

George Orphan –  will be visiting his son in California so promotional video follow up will continue.

Lee Frederickson –  Skyhawks at Sparta / Cedar Springs, Muskeegon, and Tulip City clubs are all in trouble keeping their fields. All are looking for new places to fly…

Phil Shea – G E Aviation has request requested permission to fly their test vehicles at our field.  After much discussion, if AMA and the property owner are ok with the commercial venture using the property, we think we can accommodate them in their line of sight activities at the field.  They will probably fly in the A.M. when the field is lightly used.  Dan McLaren was tasked with getting AMA’s feeling on the issue.

Dan McLaren noted he had been approached by an Eagle Scout looking for a project.  Dan’s suggestion was to build a few more start up stands and / or repair some of the existing ones.  Lee made a motion of support and it was seconded by Phil Shea.  Motion carried.

Lee Frederickson made a motion to order our new run way mat sooner rather than later to have it on hand when we need it.  Dan seconded and motion carried.

Lee Frederickson noted that although AMA is informing all members that they must have their FAA registration number on the outside of their planes the AMA and AMA Clubs will not be policing this issue.  Also, failure to have the FAA number on the plane has no impact on AMA insurance coverage for the individual, club, or land owner.

Lee Frederickson supplied the following schedule of  “combat” for the summer:
