Old Business

Mike Murphy – Safety Message – Remember, Tuesday evenings are “training nights” when we instruct new members and youth.  For safety reasons, do not clutter the sky when trainees are in the air…  Also, be sure to cycle your batteries before the first visit to the field.  A battery may seem to take a charge but unless you cycle it you will not know if it is holding adequate charge.  Case in point, Mike charged a 600mh NiCad that only held 150ma!  That would have been a short, disastrous flight…

Jim Grant – Swap Shop 2019 – all is proceeding on schedule.  AMA magazine ad is submitted.

Jim Herron – Maintenance Comments – “the field is flyable!”  Generator has been placed in the box.  Be careful on the east taxiway.  There is a big rut that will cause prop strikes and twisted ankles if not careful.

Dan McLaren – Membership roster has been updated for all paid members through March 31. At this time we have 36 regular members, 6 more regulars that I believe will renew, 4 Associate, 3 Lifetime, and 9 Youth for a total expected membership of 58.  We had 13 members drop out from last year – which included 4 youth who graduated and moved on.

New Business

George Orphan – promotional video follow up – George showed a proposed line up ideas to be expanded and formalized.  Looks very good and nicely formal!  More to come – email George with any ideas!

Lee Frederickson – Committee report out on runway investigations and possible solutions.  Lee gave a summary of actions – rental of grader would be $1,000 per day plus operator and fuel.  Lee talked to the farm folks (Jeff) and they would be willing to use their equipment and operator to accomplish our needs after the planting season. Our cost would be the diesel fuel. A motion was made to authorize up to $3500 to remove existing runway mat, flatten the runway area, and lay new mat by Jim Herron and seconded by Steve O’Connor.  Motion carried.  Final plan to be presented at the next meeting.

Mike Murphy – had a number of suggestions for anyone going to Toledo –

  • Saturday at 2:00pm there is a District 7 meeting
  • Spectrum radio has a seminar also at 2:00
  • World Indoor Championships take place at 6:00pm Friday and Saturday
  • Support the AMA scholarship fund by buying a raffle ticket which is available at the AMA booth on the main floor
