Meeting Minutes – December 2018


 Minutes of the DECEMBER 4, 2018 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President Phil Shea  

There were 14 Members present with no guests. 

A review of the Minutes of the November 6, 2018 meeting resulted in no changes.

The Financial Report presented by Dan McLaren with no questions raised.

New Members: John and Patrick Gilmore – from Hastings

Mike Murphy –cycle those batteries for winter storage! Mike also noted Horizon Hobby has an ISDT Battery Discharger on sale for $34.99 –a good deal! 

Jim Grant – discussed the raffle planes we have had over the last few years and which were profitable and which were not. Jim would like some help at the next meeting picking which plane should be our 2019 raffle plane.

 

Old Business

Mark Schmaltz – the outgoing Social Director thanked all who helped him run the events of the past year. He noted that he will transfer all of the club owned material to our new Social Director Steve O’Connor in the spring.

Jim Herron – noted that the big lawn mower has been taken in for R&R and the generator has been taken home for winterizing and storage.

New Business

George Orphan has the “go ahead” to move forward with the development of an advertising / promo video.  More to follow.

Lee Frederickson made a motion to add Jim Grant’s proposal of a Poker Fun Fly and tailgate swap to our list of summer events. Lee will handle food for lunch and there will be a $100 winner’s prize and a $5 landing fee which will include lunch. The event will be May 18 from 10am to 4:00pm.

Dan McLaren reminded all that it is time to renew your club membership ($75) and also your FAA registration.  (club renewal form is attached)  (FAA registration can be accomplished by going to FAADroneZone.FAA.Gov. Once in the site go to the “Fly model aircraft under section 336 and follow instructions.)

Allen Simpson informed everyone that the summer program for girls that runs the last two weeks of June is in need of pilots to buddy box the students.  If interested, call Allen at 532-6651.

Lee Frederickson is willing to order another batch of Bloody Barrens for combat if anyone is interested.  Let him know if you need one!

Dan McLaren – WMAA will run an RC Camp for 7th / 8th graders July 22-25.  They will be at the club from about noon to 3:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The rest of the time would be spent at the WMAA. 

Dan McLaren made a motion to carry over the existing club dues for 2019.  Jim Grant seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Show and Tell – George Orphan needed a new head gasket for an ASP 90 four stroke and could not find one anywhere.  He came across a company ICBIM Products.com out of Garden City, Mi. 48135  that advertises RC laser cut gaskets.  He cannot say enough nice things about them, so if you need gaskets you know where to go!
