Old Business

Mike Murphy – Club Safety review of common sense and courtesy DELAYED UNTIL APRIL MEETING

Jim Grant – Swap Shop raffle plane is complete, tickets are printed thanks to George Orphan, and flyer is finalized and ready to print thanks to Brian Thomas and George Orphan.  Hobby World has agreed to display the plane and sell tickets for us along with Ryder’s.

Mark Schmaltz – shed lighting update – absent – report out in April.

Lee Frederickson – Combat update – bulk order arrived and 10 kits with all servos, motors, props, etc. were eagerly received by those that had ordered!  Lee is thinking of a weekday evening in May, a Saturday in June, and a Sunday in July for combat.  More to follow.

New Business

Dan McLaren – AMA and KRAM renewal.  All club renewals are due now. $75 with renewal form mailed to me (13 adult members had not renewed as of meeting night).  AMA renewal done easily by computer (four past members had not renewed their AMA as of meeting night).

Dave Pierce – absent but interest in a scale event appeared to be about 4.5 of those present.  This summer would appear to be too soon but plans could be developed for 2019 and leave time to develop and build a new plane.  More to follow.

Phil reported the small mat used for helicopters and small planes to the south west of the shed had blown away.  It was retrieved and rolled up and stored in the shed.  After some discussion it was decided not to replace it – no one is using and it is a pain to mow around…

Danny Osborn reported the invites for the club dinner are out.  Please RSVP on or before April 13 so an accurate count of attendees can be given to the restaurant.

Lee Frederickson – Discussion to take place about the article on page 36 of AMA Magazine covering Life Cycle of clubs at the April meeting.

Jim Herron reminded everyone that there is indoor flying at the Sports Center across from Ryders every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Also, if nothing is going on they will turn the lights on for you for $5.

Mike Murphy reminded all that there is a District 7 meeting on Saturday, 4/7/2018, at Toledo.  It is a time when you can “hear it from the horse’s mouth” and ask questions of Tim Jesky and other AMA folks in person.

Lee Frederickson noted that Fred Jackson has a twin engine Barron and is willing to fly up to 5 guys to Toledo.  Fly down on Saturday morning and come back Saturday evening or Sunday. Contact Lee if interested.

Lee Frederickson noted that Tim Jesky is involved with building an indoor flying site in the area.  More to follow on the when and where and how much….

Lee Frederickson reported Dave Kingma fell off a ladder and fractured C1 and C3. He is out of action so a card or a call would be welcome…

A brief discussion was had concerning adding social media and more fresh pictures on our web site.  It was noted that the Dave Walters web site is pretty good at this…

Phil Shea – coming events

Ladies Spring Banquet at Brann’s – April 21, 6:30 happy hour (RSVP  by 4/13/2018)
Memorial Day fly in – June 16
IMAC – July 13,14, 15
Club Picnic – August 11
Vets Fly In – September 8
Swap Meet – October 28

Show and Tell – Jim Grant showed off an antique Scientific Kit from 1941 called a Varsity with a McCoy 29 ignition engine for power. The kit has been sitting on Jim’s shelf for 15 years!  It was red with checkerboard under and very nicely done!

Steve O’Connor showed his home built discharger.  Nicely constructed and the correct way to bring LiPo batteries down to storage charge.
