Old Business

Mike Murphy – did a presentation on Club Safety – common sense and courtesy

Courtesy:  If three or fewer pilots at the field, you may want to take turns

– If large number of pilots, you may not be able to fly as often as you would like.
– Call takeoff, landing, and on the field.  Help each other out. Some are not a quick as we used to be.

Airspace:  Suggest fly in a racetrack pattern as much as is practical

– Small planes must fly in a more restricted air space, large planes have the option of close in or high and far out, but they also want to fly close in, don’t hog the close in airspace.
– Small plane flyers should be aware of this and not dominate the close in airspace. Be considerate of repeated short flights.

Flight Direction:  Determined by the wind, except in cross wind      conditions.

– Fly in the most comfortable direction but announce your intentions. The direction arrow is a suggestion to prevent head on traffic except in cross wind conditions when pilots may call landing and takeoff directions they are most comfortable with.

Guests:  Guests are welcome, but they should realize that they are guests   and act accordingly.

– We all represent KRAM and should be good hosts.

Jim Grant – Swap Shop update – tickets are printed, envelopes are addressed, and flyers went to Kzoo swap shop, Traverse City, and Toledo.  The display is ready and will go to Hobby Town and Riders

Mark Schmaltz – shed lighting update – we have lights…

Frederickson – Combat update – battery size should be a 3 cell, 2200ma and should cost about $20. Use the smaller prop that comes with the kit. Lee has placed string and crape paper in the pin box for practice. Help yourself.

Calendar Lee has set is as follows:

Tues. May 15 6:00pm at KRAM – practice
Wed. May 23 Holland evening combat event – practice and learn how to run the event.
Wed. June 6  6:00 Holland evening

Danny Osborn – RSVP for club dinner by April 13

Dave Pierce – interest in a scale event this summer was tabled until fall to allow for building over the winter.

Lee Frederickson & Dan McLaren – a motion to put pre-emergent crab grass killer on the field as soon as the temperature is right.  Motion by Jim Grant and seconded by Mark Schmaltz. Vote carried.  Dan McLaren to investigate cost of broad leaf killer for the field – dandelion – for later in the spring. More to follow at the next meeting.

Lee Frederickson – Discussion about article on page 36 of AMA Magazine covering Life Cycle of clubs.  General consensus of the group is that we are doing many of the things discussed to maintain the club.  Some added things included:

– Have a static display at the Farms annual open house.
– Have a static display at the small air field when they have their pancake breakfast.

Danny Osborn reported Dave Kingma is now home and continues to recover from his ladder fall.  Doing well – give him a call.

Danny Osborn showed off a Parakeet, which is a bipe version of a Pronto.  Danny flies it three channel with a Magnum 30.

Mike Murphy, Steve O’Connor, and Phil Shea all displayed their completed Bloody Barons.
