Financial Report presented by Dan resulted in no additions, deletions, or changes.  As a result of the very successful Swap Shop, the club is finishing the year in good shape.
Motion to accept by:  Allen Simpson
                        Seconded by:  Ed Bradley
                        Vote: Vote carried

OLD BUSINESS:
Dave Pierce reported the Swap Shop was a success and all seemed happy with the results.  Vendors reported they did well in most cases.  Items priced below $400 seemed to move well.  Dave thanked Danny Osborn for again running a successful Auction and Dutch Auction.  Dave also thanked George Orphan for all the help with producing the raffle tickets, even on short notice…  Dave also gave a special thanks to all club members who showed up early to set up and help throughout the day.

Nik presented some ideas for the use of left over IMAC plaques which were:
·       Best crash
·       The corn-walker
·       Best new pilot
·       Most improved pilot
·       Helping hand
·       Best build / repair
·       Best mentor

There was a suggestion to divide the “best crash” into two categories – senior and junior.  Nominations for the above and any additional categories well take place at the December meeting.

Nik gave a final report on the subject of relocation of the swap meet to WMAA.  Due to the number of other programs being managed by the Aviation Department and demands on the staff, WMAA is no longer interested in hosting the event.

A discussion followed where Dave Pierce noted the Home and School building was available for renting and had a table source but cost would probably be more than what we are paying now.  The location could accommodate more display tables but he questioned whether we need more space.  We sold all tables but did not have any waiting list…same for the last few years.

Lee Lubbers noted the K of C has another room where we used to have a “building” contest / display.  This could be used if we wanted to add space for anything.  Danny Osborn noted this added space also cost an additional $250.

Dave Kingma noted we should not beat a dead horse!  We investigated a possibility that did not pan out.  We have a successful event and no seed to “screw it up”.  Move on and plan for next year at the K of C.

Nik reviewed the nominations for 2014 officers and asked for candidates to fill the open positions of Field Maintenance Officer and Social Director.  Ed Fowler offered to continue as Field Maintenance Officer and Brian Thomas agreed to be the Social Director for 2014.  Therefore, at the December Meeting we will have an uncontested election for the following:

·       President – Nik Zinsli
·       Vice President – Dave Pierce
·       Assistant Vice President – George Orphan
·       Secretary / Treasurer – Dan McLaren
·       Safety Officer – Ed Bradley
·       Field Maintenance Officer – Ed Fowler
·       Social Director – Brian Thomas
·       Web Master – Nik Zinsli

NEW BUSINESS:
Nik told the club that we had sent flowers and a card to Butch and family due to the passing of his mother-in-law.  Dave Kingma reported that he was at the store the day after the flowers and Butch was very appreciative.  Nik received a “thank you” card expressing the same…

Dan McLaren made a motion to continue the Club Dues at their current level for 2014.  Floyd Atkins seconded the motion and the vote carried.  Dues for 2014 are $75 and should be sent to the address at the bottom of the “Club Member Renewal” form found on the web site.  Membership renewal in AMA and the club should be completed before the end of the year.

Nik requested ideas for the 2014 Raffle plane.  Some ideas were:
Carbon Cub (foam with $400 cost)
            Super Decathlon
            Dirty Birdy

More discussion to follow.  Dave Pierce thought the selection of the 2013 plane contributed to the success of the raffle.

Nik requested a show of hands in interest of doing another club build project for the winter and what to do with the built plane (auction, raffle,… ?).  Only 3 people showed an interest and Nik said that probably was not enough to go to the effort.

Nik noted the new AMA District 7 website he has been working on is up and running – www.amadistrictvii.org

Nik reminded everyone to renew their AMA – must be done if you intend to fly Jan. 1, 2014.  (Do your club renewal at the same time.)

Nik reminded everyone indoor flying starts Saturday November 9 from 9am to 1pm.

Show and Tell – None presented this month.

50/50 for November was won by Allen Simpson – $15

The November attendance winner was George Orphan.

Next meeting:  Dec. 3, 2013 at 7:00pm at West Michigan Aviation Academy

Meeting adjourned at 7:42
            Motion by:  Nik
            Seconded by:  everyone else

Respectfully submitted,

Dan McLaren
Secretary / Treasurer
