Nik asked for any ideas for the use of left over IMAC plaques – silence reigned…  Keep in mind during the next month – nominations for best crash, most improved flyer, and any other idea will be solicited at the November meeting.  The plaques will be modified accordingly.

NEW BUSINESS:
Reminder:  Swap Meet Sunday, October 27 with set up at 7:00am, vendors admitted at 8:00 and public at 9:00.  Coffee and donuts for workers early.

Art Steenwyk made a motion to buy back the awning he sold the club two years ago for $100.   Motion was seconded by McLaren.  Discussion led to Ed Bradley asking that the motion be revised to a selling price of $75.  Motion was amended by Art and Dan and vote to sell for $75 carried.

Nik led a discussion about the location of Swap Meets after this year.  As you will recall, West Michigan Aviation Academy offered the school as a future venue for the event.  After much discussion concerning table availability, parking availability, total floor space available, food service availability, long term commitment to the swap meet by the school, value for the school, aesthetics of the school location vs. the K of C, risks of change to the club, etc. – a motion was made by Lee Frederickson and seconded by Mike Murphy to allow the board, upon the successful resolution of the aforementioned issues, to make a decision either for or against moving the Swap Meet to WMAA in 2014.  If the decision is made prior to October 27 it will be announced and posted at the Swap Meet so all attending will be informed of the location change for 2014.  The vote carried with 9 yes, 6 no, and 5 abstaining.

Nik announced the winter indoor flying at West Michigan Aviation Academy – Nov. 9, Dec. 14, Jan. 11 and 18, Feb. 8 and 22, and March 15 from 9:00am until 1:00pm.  A flyer will we sent to all members and local clubs.  The $5 charge goes to the High School RC Club which helps them develop an inventory of club owned indoor and outdoor RC equipment.

Nik opened the nomination process for the 2014 slate of club officers.  Nominations were accepted for President (Nik), Vice president (Dave Pierce), Assistant Vice President (George Orphan), Secretary / Treasurer (Dan McLaren), Safety Officer (Ed Bradley), and Web Master (Nik).  Positions still needing to be filled are Field Maintenance Officer and Social Director.  Please come to the November meeting ready to volunteer!!!  (If you have any questions about the positions, give Dan a call at 245-5874)

Dan McLaren announced the winter “build” activity with the West Michigan Aviation Academy will start on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 3:45 until 5:00pm at the school.  Building will be each Thursday in October and expand to Tuesdays and Thursdays from November through May.

Larry Whitaker lost a blue & white plane in the corn just before the IMAC contest.  It was found by the farm folks and turned over to Mark Schmaltz.  Mark sent a club-wide email on August 21st with a picture asking the owner to contact him. After no response, Mark placed it next to the pin box at the conclusion of the IMAC weekend and it stayed there for a few days since no one knew who it belonged to (benefit of having ownership documented inside the plane).  By the time it was discovered that the plane was owned by Larry, it had disappeared!  Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the plane, please call Larry Whitaker at 269-945-0275, contact a club officer, or return it to the shelter at the field.

Nik noted that because of the new WMAA athletic teams’ practice schedules, flying in the gym will not be available before the club meeting (unless notified before-hand), but will available afterwards until 9 or 9:30-ish.

SHOW AND TELL:
Dan McLaren reported that the second plane that was built last school year with the WMAA students was successfully maddened on Tuesday, September 30 and four of the students flew on the buddy box.  It is now in their possession and care.

50/50 for October was won by Allen Simpson, whom kindly donated his winnings back to the club. Thanks Allen!

The October attendance winner was Daniel Herweyer, whom took home a neckstrap.

Next meeting:  Nov. 5, 2013 at 7:00pm at West Michigan Aviation Academy

Meeting adjourned at 8:20
    Motion by:  Nik
    Seconded by:    all

Respectfully submitted,
Dan McLaren
