OLD BUSINESS:
Nik – 2013 Swap Shop.  After a lot of discussion concerning the renting of 100 tables at $8 plus per table, transporting them to and from the rental location and school, parking, communication with vendors and participants, etc. a motion was made by Nik to remain where we are for 2013 and use the year to plan and communicate the move for 2014.  This motion was seconded by Dave Peirce.  Motion Carried.

Additional discussion surrounded the idea that we have a second event at the school as a dry run.  More on this in the future.

Nik reported the free indoor flying at WMAA on Saturday 12/1/12 was enjoyed by about a dozen flyers and an equal number of spectators.  West Michigan Park Flyers had a very nice display of their product offerings on site.

Nik reported that a Buffalo Wild Wings fund raiser will take place on a Sunday in February at the 44th Street location.  More to follow in the future.

Nik led discussion about plans for winter “build night”.  It was decided we would build a kit and announce what was going to happen each week so anyone interested could be sure to attend the build night in Mark Schmaltz’s garage to gain knowledge about the activity going on that evening.  A lot of discussion took place about what kit to build – a 4 Star 40, PT 40, Super Sportster, Mid Star 40, or Easy Sport 40.  It was finally decided we would build a Tiger 60.  Building night and events for the evening will be announced.

Nik reported that both the inside (thank you Dan Osborn) and outside flags have been taken in for the winter and are at his house for safe keeping until spring.

Tim Power – flag pole status is on hold.

NEW BUSINESS:
Dan McLaren requested a motion to have Dave Kingma arrange to purchase 5 fruit baskets (farmer, day care, two neighbors, and field rollers) for pre Christmas delivery.  Mark Schmaltz made a motion to authorize Dave to spend up to $450 on the five requested baskets.  Dave Parrotte seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Nik read a note from our AVP Tim Jesky about the visit he and William Pritchett, who is the AMA Education Director, had at the West Michigan Aviation Academy.  Their visit coincided with the school RC Club activities between 8 and 9 am.  They saw the students interacting with the KRAM volunteers who were assisting them as they learned to build and fly.  Tim was very pleased to have such involvement happening in his area and Bill was ecstatic that such activity was spanning the generations.  Nice words and a big thank you to the KRAM members that donate time to make it happen.

Nik announced that Terry at Rider’s is in the process of revamping the RC Department at the hobby shop.  Look for changes after the first of the year.

Note that the Kalamazoo Swap Shop is 1/26/13.  (Always used to be in February)

Come bring in the New Year with the traditional New Years Day Fly-In. Starts at noon.

Show and Tell  –  Mark Schmaltz donated two books to the library. Airplane Engines and “Aerobatics” by Dave Patrick.  Nice additions to the library.

50/50 for December won by Jim Korringa ($15)

December attendance winner is Ed Buck who got a free bottle of CA.

Next meeting:  January 8, 2013 at 7:00pm at West Michigan Aviation Academy.  (Indoor flying available an hour before and after the meeting.)

Meeting adjourned at 7:50pm
