New Members voted into the club:  George Pavey and Evan Roelofs – both of whom are instructors at the West Michigan Aviation Academy

Old Business:
George Orphan – requested the report on a camera and weather station at the field be tabled until February, 2013.  Motion approved, seconded, and approved.

Nik Zinsli reported that he met our landlord at the full scale fly in and pancake breakfast at Wingeier Air Field.  Fred laughed and said “Are you the one who sent me letters that I have not had time to respond to?”  They then discussed our request to put a sign out by the road identifying our presence and Fred said probably but he wanted to think about where since he is still thinking about what sign he wants to put out there for the farm. They also discussed our requested flying time change and Fred’s response was “the cows get up at the same time every day of the week so they will not mind”.  Therefore, we can start flying electrics at 9:00 am and gas and glow at 11:00 am on Sunday mornings.  This will be included in the new lease agreement but is ok to do now with this verbal agreement.  Nik told Fred we are happy and plan to stay and Fred was happy to hear we were happy.  A new long term lease will be worked out after harvest this fall with it hopefully being signed before the end of the year.

Danny Osborn reported there were 8 flyers for the Fun Fly in August.  The overall event was won by Nik with his little green bype foamy.  A good time was had by all and many said “lets do two of these next year!”

Mark Schmaltz announced fourteen Vets will arrive at 10 am for the Veterans Fly In September 8.  Set up for the event will begin at 8:00 am with tear down at 2:00 pm.  Pilots meeting will be at 9:00 am and lunch will be at noon.

In Lee Frederickson’s absence Nik reported that our pylon race was rained out and not rescheduled.

New Business:
Show and Tell:  Jarret Heileman showed off one of his treasures that turned out to be a real hand full to fly…

Ed Fowler asked when we would work on a plan to enlarge the shelter and enclose and secure a portion of it so we could move all the club belongings out of the barn and over to the field.  This discussion was tabled (Mark Schmaltz / Dave Pierce) until February – after we have a new long term lease in place.

Mike Murphy announced he may have a future astronaut in the family – his 8 week old granddaughter had her first plane ride last week!

Dave Pierce reminded all that the swap is moving right along.  The first table reservations have been received.  Tickets are printed and could be picked up after the meeting with the balance of the tickets being mailed.  Please buy or sell your 12 tickets – remember, the proceeds of the Swap Shop and raffle pays the rent on the field!  The sign up sheet for working the swap shop will be at the October meeting or you can email Dave (schnell188@yahoo.com).

Currently there are two planes lost in the corn.  Paul Gorman has a little nitro Cessna lost to the North West and Lee Frederickson has a 48” electric lost to the north east.  If you are out in the corn for other reasons (Ha Ha) and happen to stumble across either of these, give them a call!

We lost two club members in the past week-
Founding member Richard Schnur and past member Hal Stratton left us.  Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.

The milking barn has an open house Saturday – if you have an interest in seeing how it works check it out.  I believe it runs from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

50/50 for September of $13 was won by yours truly.  It was only right since they used my hat to draw the ticket from…

Next meeting:  October 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Kelloggsville High School
