New Member Brian Thomas was introduced and voted into the club.  Brian is new to the hobby so help him whenever possible.

OLD BUSINESS:
Nik reported on the establishment of a lending library.  He will bring all the material to each meeting.  If you want something, sign it out and then bring it back to the next meeting.  Do not pass on to others – sign it back in and let the next person sign it out. If you are unable to get to the meeting, call/email Nik to arrange a pick-up.

George Orphan reported that the possibility of camera and weather station at the field is still in the thinking stage.

Dan McLaren reported that our landlord has not responded to a formal letter sent July 28 requesting permission to change flying times, put up a sign by the road, and his position on entering into a long term lease with us.  Dan will try to follow up with him for answers.

Nik led a discussion about field and lease renewal.  Although the smell can at times be strong, the overwhelming consensus (one abstention) was to renew a lease and not even think about moving.

Mark Schmaltz / Danny Osborn – Club Fun Fly Date will be 8/18/12 at 10am.  Events will consist of elapsed time, donut drop, spot landing, limbo, ribbon cut, and touch and go.

NEW BUSINESS:
Lee Frederickson reminded everyone the pylon race will be August 9 at 6pm.  (Event was cancelled due to rain)

Mark Schmaltz – Veterans Fly-In Sept. 8th – planning and assignments will be announced at the next meeting.

Nik announced that Jase Dussia was written up in latest edition (October) of Model Airplane News.  He entered the Extreme Flight Championships and “was the youngest competitor at just 12 years old.  He is sponsored by Horizon Hobby, Extreme Flight RC, and Desert Aircraft.  During the contest, he moved from 12th to fifth place and ended up flying on Sunday in the finals.  This is one to watch.”  Way to go Jase!!!

Dave Pierce announced the Ad for the swap shop will appear in both the September and October issues of Model Aviation.  Ticket sales for the P-47 are moving slow so when you get yours to sell, please make every effort to sell them!

George Pavey from the Aviation Academy said the kids he has talked to so far seem excited to get into RC.  Their gym is to be completed in October so some indoor flying is on the horizon…

50/50 for August won by Mark Schmaltz  ($13 to club)

August attendance winner was Howard Broekema who selected a glow plug.
