OLD BUSINESS:
Danny Osborn reported the sign up sheet was being passed around for the May 21 TAG  event.  Two simulators, generator, trainers, and food are all accounted for…  All are welcome to come out and help.  Set up will be at 9:00 AM with the event published to start at 10:00 AM

Dave Pierce was convinced to take the position vacated by Ben Lopez.  Ben, with all his work and family commitments resigned the week before the meeting.  Dave will take over with promised assistance from Mark Schmaltz and Dan McLaren.

Dave Pierce will pick up the planning for Ryder’s display for 28th Street Cruse –

A sign up sheet will be passed around for the June 11 Memorial Fly In at the next meeting.  This will be the first big event for Dave Pierce so be ready to help him out!

Mark got the information for this event to the District 7 web master but since nothing has been updated on the site calendar for an extended period we are not hopeful that it will show up on the web site.

George Orphan was missing so Dave Pierce gave a quick update on the Swap Shop.  Flyers are printed and out but very little activity is expected until closer to the event.

Nik reported the Kalamazoo Air Zoo static display set up will be anytime after 7:00AM.  Please remember, no fuel in planes as the Air Zoo folks are worried about damage to the indoor floor.  The CARDS will not be participating this year.  John Dussia is expecting to bring 10 – 20 planes and flyers.  All planes and pilots are welcome! Setup starts at 7:30am, a side door will be open for unloading. Please be there as early as possible.

Jim Heist – since no runway mat available cheep from his road builder contact, it was decided to drop this subject for this year.

Jim Heist / Dave Pierce – runway and field were rolled.  The runway is smoother!  Jim is waiting to see but this service may end up being donated…

Mark Schmaltz – has decided to reuse the existing fence and just add new heavy duty posts and cable due to cost for this year.  The east and west fences have been completed and only the center area remains to be completed.

Mark Schmaltz – reported out on land owner meeting – contrary to what others have heard, our storage at the barn is secure for the balance of the year.  Our existing landlord is negotiating with Cavanaugh’s and expect to purchase the homestead and outbuildings shortly.

Dave Kingma – reported the grass spraying was expected to be completed on Thursday morning.

NEW BUSINESS:
Replacement for Ben Lopez – moved to old business by motion of Dan McLaren and Nik Zinsli.  Vote carried.

Work party for new field area was discussed.  Lee Frederickson motioned and Lee Lubbers seconded a position not to spend capital on the new field area this year due to the uncertainty of the impact of the new barns.  It was agreed that just running the mower over the area to nock down the stubble would suffice.  Motion carried.

Lee Lubbers motioned and Art Steenwyk seconded a proposal to spread some rye grass seed in the new area just to get some grass started.  Lee Frederickson offered to use his big broadcast spreader to accomplish the task.  Motion carried.

The Big Bird event will be on the June agenda.  Lee asked for a list of last years flyers to personal invites could be sent.

Danny Osborn reported that the local hobby shops have been restocked with club flyers.

Nik asked if we had ever gotten any banners from the hobby shops.  Mark responded the ball is in their court – they agreed they wanted to participate and they have to get the banners to us.
Dave Kingma reported there was a problem with the wind sock order but hoped to clear it up soon.

50/50 won by Mark Schmaltz who donated his share to the club.  Total $23
