Meeting Minutes – July 2010

The meeting was called to order at 7pm sharp with 18 members present and 2 guests; Jake Williams & Mike Kemp.

Previous minutes were approved by Lee Lubbers and Alan Simpson, followed by everyone else.

Financial report was read and accepted by Dan Osborn and Dick Cowen, as well as everyone else. The financial report will be available on the website for logged-in club members.

OLD BUSINESS:
Dan Osborn has heard nothing back from the YMCA, so we will consider it a dead topic unless we hear otherwise.

Lee Lubbers says all looks in order for the Big Bird Sunset Salute this upcoming Wednesday evening. There are 12 pilots RSVP’d currently. If anyone else plans on flying, please email/call Lee ASAP. Reminder that money is not needed until you show up Wednesday. Setup will begin around 3pm with flying planned 4-dusk. And apparently, Mr Frederickson is cooking steak for dinner!

The Mel Trotter static display during the 28th St Cruise looks to be pretty planned out and ready to go. Areas by the street will have our displays and a small area by Hertz can be used for small foamies & microflyers. So bring your shade tents, tables and planes and enjoy a nice weekend while watching some beautiful cars roll past! If you’d like more info, please contact Ben Lopez.

Charles Rencurrel note that there were 5 responses from people using his new marketing plan for park flyers. Very little investment has gone into this effort and it’s still in its’ infancy…so 5 responses is not bad at all!

The complimentary Associate memberships for the surrounding hobby shops are in progress.

TAG day is coming up! August 7th from 10am to 4pm. AMA has given us $300-odd dollars to spend to which it has been decided will mostly go towards some print advertisements in the local papers in hopes of a bigger response. If you have a spare trainer plane available, please bring it out for the students if possible.

NEW BUSINESS:
The Club Picnic is coming on the 24th. Setup will be at 8am, with flying & food from 9am-2pm. Everyone that can be there by 8 to help setup is GREATLY appreciated! We also could use one more person with a flatbed truck or trailer so that we can haul everything from the barn in one trip. If you have one that you can bring, please let Mark know.

CARDS fun-fly is the 16th. Should be a great time at a great field!

Schoolcraft Skyhawks are having a “Huckfest” on the 17th. Giant-scale, 3D flying, anything goes at a huckfest!

Mark forgot the 50/50 tickets, so a raffle was not done. Lee Lubbers made a motion that Mark should put $25 in the club funds for his temporary case of Alzheimers. Mark quickly changed topic.

A big welcome to Roger Ausema who was voted into the club!

The meeting was brought to a close by Alan and Rob at 7:25 so that we could all go fly and sweat off a few more pounds in the 95 degree heat!
